Complete Rohtang Pass Tour With Solang Valley and Atal Tunnel

Overview

Rohtang Pass is one of the most iconic high-altitude mountain passes in India, serving as the gateway to the "Cold Deserts" of Lahaul and Spiti. Located about 51 km from Manali, it is perched at an elevation of 3,978 meters (13,051 feet).

Top Attractions

  • Kothi Village: A picturesque hamlet offering stunning views of the gorge where the Beas River flows through deep chasms.
  • Gulaba: Known as the "Snow Point" when the main pass is closed. It has beautiful meadows and is less "rocky" than Rohtang.
  • Rahala Waterfalls: Located about 16 km from Manali on the way up, these falls are formed by melting glaciers. The water drops from a height of nearly 9,000 feet, creating a refreshing, misty stopover.
  • Marhi: A popular pitstop filled with roadside dhabas serving hot Maggi, momos, and tea. It's the last major stop for food before the summit.
  • Kokksar: Koksar (often spelled Khoksar) is the first village you encounter upon entering the Lahaul Valley. Historically, it was a remote outpost on the ancient trade route to West Asia, but today it has become a popular stop for travelers transitioning from the lush greenery of Manali to the rugged, high-altitude desert of Lahaul.
  • Atal Tunnel: The Atal Tunnel is a 9.02 km (5.6 mile) engineering masterpiece that has fundamentally changed travel in the Indian Himalayas. It is officially certified by the World Book of Records as the world's longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet.
  • Solang Valley: Solang Valley is the adventure capital of Manali, located about 13 km from the main town. While Rohtang Pass is for high-altitude sightseeing, Solang is a specialized "action hub" where the landscape changes from a lush green meadow in summer to a world-class ski resort in winter.
